Free Mother’s Day Printable

I feel a bit disappointed with myself.  I have been so busy with everyday commissions that I’ve been unable to open up slots for Mother’s Day this year.

So in a bid to make it up to you, I’ve got a little present for you.

I’ve made a free Mother’s Day Printable for you with a photo that I took of my button collection. You can simply print it off and frame it as a super quick and easy mothers day gift.

The PDF is A4 with the 6″x 4″ image in the middle.  This gives you two choices. You can trim it down and pop it in a 6×4 frame.  Or you might chose to leave it exactly as it is and place it in an A4 frame to give the effect of a white mount around it. I designed it in this size to make it super convenient for you because both size frames are readily available everywhere

Alternatively, you could pop the print on to the front of a card blank to make a quick and easy mother’s day card. Why not stick a button in between the arrows at the bottom to give it a special, hand-finished feel?

Peg Dolls ~ A Beautiful Couple

I was asked to create a PEG DOLL couple as a Christmas Gift for the most beautiful Parents.

Their daughter is the photographer behind The Tortoise Haus photography studio, who had captured her parents beautifully in the images she sent me.  Her Dad looked like the friendliest, gentlest man on the planet, and Mum had the most gorgeous, long-layered grey hair. I really wanted to be able to do her images justice and create a peg doll couple as lovely as they were.

Dad is wearing his favourite jumper, with his shirt just visible at the collar. I usually depict glasses with just the eyepieces, but as his spectacles were frameless and had very distinctive red arms. So I broke away from my usual style and included these parts in my design too. Mum had a beautiful plum-tone dress which had huge chrysanthemum style blooms dotted around it. The dress also had a deep, plunging neckline and a ruched waistline that created pretty pleats as it hung.  It was an enjoyable challenge to recreate!

During discussions about the dolls with Jen, we agreed that a little bit of Christmas sparkle would be the perfect compliment for such a pretty dress. I created this by adding a cardigan with a subtle lilac pearlescent sheen finish. Just the outfit for the festive time of year!

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed working on this commission, and hope the peg dolls will be treasured in their Forever Home.

I was recently asked to create a Peg doll family by a lovely, talented local jewellery maker  to celebrate her friends’ 40th birthday. This was a super set to make, with lots of lovely detail to work on.

This Peg doll family are certainly super cool and chic! The boy peg doll had to look smart in shirt and trousers. He also has the loveliest thick hair with a floppy fringe.  His sister had the prettiest navy trousers with pink and turquoise flowers that I just couldn’t wait to “peg-dollify”!

In one of the photos I was sent to work from, Mum was wearing a beautiful little summer dress with the most gorgeous patterns and details that I adored recreating . As you may already know, I love pattern! Therefore this one was a dream for me to work on. Sunglasses were also the order of the day. Apparently Mum never goes anywhere without them!

This is a fab little peg doll family set that I really enjoyed working on. Hopefully they are being  loved and treasured by their new owner. After the hours of work that go in to them, I really get attached to each of the little peg dolls that I make. I was, as always, sad to see this happy little family go!

In other news, my order book is currently closed while I work on Christmas stock. I’m very busy working towards our Christmas Fayre we are attending in November. However I do operate a Waiting List that customers can be placed on until slots are opened up.

I am excited to introduce our newest wooden peg doll to our collection! Our Super Mum peg doll is dressed in her full superhero gear, with a mask, pants and cape – ready to unleash her heroic super powers that every amazing Mum possesses, in an instant!

Handmade here in our little studio in Wales, UK, this particular custom peg doll order was requested in mustard, grey and teal colours. We personalised the cape by drawing inspiration from the crocheted ripple and chevron blankets that the recipient loves creating (when she has a spare ten minutes out from her hectic day job as a true Super Mum of 5)!

This Super Mum peg doll is a lovely hand made gift for any fabulous Mum.

It’s particularly perfect as a mothers day gift.even though it has already passed this year in the UK – there’s nothing like forward planning!! However it would also suit birthdays, as a thank you, or as a treat for yourself or another hard working Mum who deserves a unique, handmade gift, created with her in mind.

The wooden peg doll can be completely customised. Request any colour combination or hairstyle. Although we like a plait – it’s fantastically practical for keeping beautiful locks out of your face whilst undertaking superhero duties! The cape can be  floral, chevron (as shown), stripey or polka dot.
