Easter decoration and gift ideas without chocolate

It can be hard to find Easter decoration and gift ideas without chocolate, but here at Doli Dwt we’ve got you covered!

Following the success of my robin and penguin baubles over the last two years, I decided to bring a bit of that bird-based love to Easter, by creating these cute little Easter Chick baubles!

They make a great alternative to chocolate as a little gift for Easter. They will last a lot longer too! If would like to gift them to someone outside of your own home, I can send them straight to your recipient, with a personalised note, to try to help those who are social distancing or in isolation this year.

They are perfect for hanging from an Easter tree. Alternatively, you could pop them onto an indoor Easter wreath, or string them along your mantelpiece or a shelf. How about popping them around a napkin as a pretty place setting for you Easter lunch?

Each little Easter decoration has, as always at Doli Dwt, been through my unique process. Wood burning and colouring by hand using pencil and a spot of paint is at the heart of each and every one of my creations.

Each one sports a bow tie or hair bow in a pretty pastel shade. The little chicks are peeking out of cracked shells that are decorated with pastel polka dots. Hanging from pretty bakers twine, they are the perfect addition for your Easter decorations or spring decor.

Peg Doll Vicar Retirement Gift

Believe me when I say I can create almost any peg doll and anything goes. This peg doll vicar is testimony to that!

We don’t do many craft fayres. Due to the fact that we are lucky to be kept very busy with orders for personalised peg dolls, it can be hard to schedule time to create “stock”. I’m also not a huge fan of mass production. However, when we do attend fayres, they are great for meeting and sharing our work with lovely people, who quite often decide to find out more about placing a bespoke order.

This was one of those cases.

A lady spent time looking at our stall, and then explained that her dad would shortly be retiring from his job, and would I be able to make a peg doll to commemorate this?  She was incredibly proud of all that he had done throughout his career, and was hoping that I could recreate his Archdeacon gown. Of course, I was excited by the potential challenge of this!

I loved working with the rich golden colours. Creating the effect of the beautiful embroidered Celtic knot patterns was particularly up my street!

I also had to make Mum to accompany the vicar peg doll. My customer didn’t have any specific clothing pictures to send me. My brief was “a scarf….mustard, navy and maybe some stripes”. It was quite exciting to have free reign over the clothing design, and a refreshing contrast to closely recreating all the important detail on the ceremonial gown.

Peg Dolls – Personalised Spoon Topper Doll

Well, Easter is over and we’re slowly all getting back to normal. For me, that means getting back at my desk, and creating lots of my lovely personalised peg doll families for my lovely customers. I’m finding it hard to believe that it’s May already. I feel like I only just got over Christmas! However, the steady influx of wedding cake topper orders and graduation peg dolls keeps reminding me that we are definitely heading towards the Summer months now.

Easter was a a fun time for creating though! I loved making my Easter Bunny Peg Dolls and my giveaway was well received!

I also had great pleasure in making a couple of lovely spoon dolls as Easter Gifts.

The first one was created for the lovely Sharon of Daisy Lions

Sharon is a highly talented textiles artist, and I love the gorgeous little birds she makes; which were perfect for hanging from my Easter Tree.

Another Spoon Doll request was from a very proud Mum who wanted a special Easter gift to congratulate her son on his prestigious Chef apprenticeship. She sent me some images of his Chef whites, cap and trousers for me to work from. I endeavored to include as much detail as possible, despite the tiny size of the peg doll.

She reported back that they both loved the peg doll spoon, and that her son was impressed by the detail.

Easter Bunny Peg Dolls – Happy Easter – Pasg Hapus

Our Easter Bunny Peg Dolls would just like to wish you all a Happy Easter!

Or, as we say here in Wales, Pasg Hapus! The Easter Bunny Peg Dolls are excited at the prospect of a day of consuming vast quantities of chocolate!

The bluebells are starting to open, the tulips are in full bloom, and the Alliums and Lily of the Valley are sprouting nicely.

We are currently having  the kitchen replaced. It’s a dusty scene of devastation, so it’s lovely to have this little area of colour to escape to. Let’s hope it stays dry so we can enjoy it a bit more.

Easter Bunny Peg Dolls – Giveaway Winners
