School’s Out for Summer!

Yippee for teachers and children everywhere! The summer holidays have finally arrived!

For me, a teacher by day, it’s great news as I now have several weeks to work on new peg doll designs and begin getting organised for Christmas. Yes, Christmas, in July. We are booked in for our first craft fair in November so there is no time like the present (hehe, see what I did there!) to get working on festive stock.

At the end of term, I was asked to make a custom peg doll “Thank you” Teacher gift, for the family of a Y6 pupil who wanted to say a special thank you to a fantastic, supportive Head Teacher before his transition to comprehensive school. It was a tricky job, as I only had a verbal description to go by (no photographs). My design included an apple (a must for any teacher, right?!) and a small crucifix to represent the Catholic school that she leads. She was very touched by her Teacher gift peg doll.

I’m sure there are some parents out there who are slightly less over-joyed at the prosect of six long weeks of keeping little ones entertained! So to share the Summer Love a little more, here’s a fantastic link to some lovely ideas to keep you ad your family entertained over the coming weeks, or you could check out my Pinterest board of ideas here! The home-made moondough is a personal favourite of mine – it feels so lovely and literally takes minutes to make; and the friendship bracelets take me straight back to my own childhood. What are your favourite, fun-filled holiday activities?

Have a super start to the Summer, whatever you get up to!
